Reflections

ALONSO ALAN

I could understand the word commitment-of a better way, because beyond to "pass" a course, I feel that we are committed to seek the true learner's process, which ultimately serve us for our future as professionals, and will be our base to develop our talents breaking the "barrier" of English.

For this reason, I am grateful for the opportunity we had to share and learn from each other, in order to grow day by day.

This work allowed us to create a BLOG to learn to use this useful tool to teach the whole world our learning and how to continue interacting with our classmates.

I do know that we meet our main objective in developing this blog, to teach those who are not sure what university career can study, getting to know a little more of Industrial Engineering and Business Administration.

No one denies the importance of English language in the present time as global language. It is clear that the English language has become more dominant around the world. In some countries it is used as the mother tongue and, other countries learn it as second language in their schools therefore this is making English widespread.

I realized the importance of this language when I started working and it became very necessary for me. By participation in this course (class discussions) I could improve my thinking in English which I consider truly important. We have to think in English in order to really express what we want, and this course helped me a lot on this point. Besides that, now with this knowledge and with the new vocabulary, I can maintain conference calls, meetings and presentations in my work with no difficulties.

On the other hand I can now teach someone about how to pronounce the words correctly in order to avoid misunderstandings while speaking and also I can now help them to understand  a wide range of demanding, longer texts, and recognize implicit meaning so they can use language flexibility and effectively for social, professional and educational purposes.

During this course, I learned a lot of different and interesting things. We covered through all the lessons several topics related to situations, traditions, associations and other things that happen around the world. We also discussed about different points of view and I think this helped me to get knowledge that I did not have before, allowing me to be aware of what is going on around the planet.

I believe that each day people learn something. Based on this, I could say that each lesson I learned new things. It does not matter if it was a completely new grammar structure or only a new word. The thing is that I learned and now I can apply this knowledge on my day to day life.

Taking this course allowed me, especially on my work, to be more confident at the time I have to speak in front of people. I believe this is very important for me, because often I have to give some presentations or have calls with native speakers. Now, I can speak in a better, accurate and smooth way.
I am able also, to pronounce some words correctly and express myself in a better way, achieving that other people easier understand me. Also, I can correct some coworkers when they are on these kinds of situations and help them makes me feel very good
