Company Budget

Creating a company budget.

Instructions:

1. Use proper techniques for organization, staffing and direction of the company's operations. It is essential that the management overseeing the budget not only create an effective budget plan, but also that management use proper observation, analytical and reporting techniques.

2. Look to the future and make assumptions regarding variables or situations that may affect the company's budget plan. This allows a proactive approach to be established if the economy sours or in case unforeseen events occur.

3. Set goals. The annual plan's foundation is established based on the goals set forth in the company's budget plan. Company budget goals may include rate of return on investments, market share, establishing quality leadership and survival. Make predictions about the future outcome of the business. This is called forecasting.

4. Include a performance objective. This is yet another goal that requires action. A performance objective is a set goal to attain a certain performance level.

5. Integrate expenditures, asset requirements and estimated finances needed.

6. Coordinate by creating a detailed, organized budget plan structured and organized in a flow chart. This should organize the company's budget objectives.

7. Format the budget plan to show a budgeted balance sheet, including assets, liabilities and other financial information.

8. Document the progress of the budget, including all account payables, accrued expenses and other debts. A financial document should list account receivables as well.

9. Take control of the company budget plan. Because the budget is subject to change based on economic and unexpected circumstances, implement new strategies if necessary and monitor the financial performance of the budget by creating daily reports that show how well you are doing against the goals.

I think one of the most important functions on the administrator's role, is the way they handle the resoureces to accomplish the company goals.

The way they use the resources, how they distribuite them to each department, and most important, how they do to get each time more money from the original amount.

I believe thinking in the future is a key point to have success during a long period of time, so the budget is a good tool to have control on how to face different expenses in upcoming months.

How to be a good manager...

I think the manager essential function should be to motivate other people because when you become a manager, all the things start to depend on others.

So, I think that if the manager helps, listens and motivates their team members, they would work in the best way and would give the results that also, are the manager´s results as well, because s/he must report issues or accomplishments based on their team´s.

I believe if the team is motivated, for sure they would give the extra mile, giving to their manager the best results.

Based on this, I encourage you to take a look at presentation below, which is going to give you some advises on how to manage people in order to be a good manager and have your team motivated.

Lean Manufacturing

Lean manufacturing is a variation on the theme of efficiency based on optimizing flow; it is a present-day instance of the recurring theme in human history toward increasing efficiency, decreasing waste, and using empirical methods to decide what matters, rather than uncritically accepting pre-existing ideas. As such, it is a chapter in the larger narrative that also includes such ideas as the folk wisdom of thrift, time and motion study, Taylorism, the Efficiency Movement, and Fordism. Lean manufacturing is often seen as a more refined version of earlier efficiency efforts, building upon the work of earlier leaders such as Taylor or Ford, and learning from their mistakes. However, the modern view takes a more holistic approach where the definition of waste is far more generic. Irregular production with ups and downs in production levels would be considered waste. The goal of Lean then becomes the creation and maintenance of a production system which runs repetitively, day after day, week after week in a manner identical to the previous time period.

For me Lean is very important for the companies because its main objective is to reduce wastes and improve the quality in the products which nowadays is very needed. Currently the companies have been focused in many unnecessary processes that not provide value-added to the products and that customers don't pay for, therefore they should implement this methodology to avoid unneccesary expenses and maximize the productivity.

But... What is Industrial Engineering?

For those who would like to know what it means Industrial Engineering, I share with you the three   responses I give every time that someone asks me that:

  • We are responsible for resolving the problems of the world
  • We do more with less... Increasing productivity and decreasing costs
  • We simplify and we normalize processes ... looking for continuous improvement
Of course these are my responses, so I would like to share with you a more detailed definition below:

Engineering is the science dedicated to the study and implementation of the various branches oftechnology. The engineer is responsible for applying its inventiveness and the scientific method to   realize ideas into reality, and thus solve human problems.

Industrial engineering is the discipline that analyzes a factors related to the production of goodsand  services. In this way, it focuses on the analysis, design, planning, control and optimizationof the industrial process, without neglecting the different technical, economic and social aspects.

Well, now I leave you with this Video that sums it up! See you...
